I am and am sure quite alot of viewers are disappointed with the way the 3rd QF was judged. Vijandran started with negative comments for the first group and seemed to be disgusted with their performance. What he said was true that they are looking for quality materials and all teams who entered Dhool had some quality otherwise they won't be there. He had said that defeat should be accepted gracefully just as we embrace victory. He had already contradicted this statement at the end of the show when he together with the other judges said that their choice was unanimous and showed great 'anger' and frustration that their preferred team did not come in. Why then have public votes - might as well just have the judges to all the work! Lavanya was very curt with her comment when she said people must vote for the 'quality' team. It can be the judges choice but people also had their freedom to choose their favourite team, so please practice what you preach. With all due respect, please also accept that they have been voted in regardless of whether they are popular or talented. You are showing such 'black faces' on national tv just because your choice did not make it. Be professional and give the groups the support they deserve - after all, they have all been working hard and they deserve to be congratulated whether or not they are winners! To all the teams out there, all of you did your best and do not let the judges comments sway you. All the best to the chosen teams as they approach their finals.

I think the judges were a bit too emotional. They should never show what they prefered or not on national tv. if that was the case than they whould also have participated in the sms voting to boost their favourite teams. Anyway vijayandran needs help.He is lost in the lallang when it comes to dancing and he doesnt know what to say. For starters ask him to change his dress sense first. he looks like one of the participants fromone of the groups. he and his dress sense...my god...he is not Chandramukhi's brother to dress like this.. anyway i think lavanya and sree are doing a good job. Lavanya has to relax a bit. Dont be too stressed about this. And i think the voting should be taken out and only used in the finals. Its too soon to get the public choice to work now. Let the professionals except vijayandran to choose the groups. we will have the final say. Gd luck guys. God bless

i think we all deserve to know firstly the reason for choosing borderz and aarthiz over the other disqualified groups and the sms ranking of each group. We do need to know such stuff. We as voters and viewers have the right to know these. All this not show just shows us one thing , the production is up for making money only, be it a misconception or not we need an explaination..

i disagree with presley abt the embracin and accepting..Load of crap actually..when a group so outrageously deserve to be choosen like APSARAS ASIA. they shld be fighting for their rights.. and for god's sake saying the judges have to support the public's wish..it is more like which grp knows more people..and the judges have no favaritism or whatsoever as they only told there opinion and their judges so they will tell thier opinions.Shutting their mouths will do no good as it is the same as not havin any judges at all.. frm wherever the judge may cme frm he or she is a judge and we must respect their decsion. And btw apsaras u rocked the whole stage ..

I disagree to presley's comment too. I was a killabeez fan myself. But looking at what they did yesterday, not only the judges including all those who were there and watching from tv (EXCEPT THEIR DIE HARD FANATICS) knew they didnt deserve it. They very well took out the chance of a group that deserve so much better than them. I clearly agree with the judges. It is a true slap given to killabeez. We have to take it. They are judges afterall. I totally agree with the above comment. Their winning was a clear cut due to their famous and popularity. Their fans who vote blindly for them, esp their gal fans regardless how well they perform. As a public we should encourage and support the valueable group. But our killabeez failed to do so. I hope they learn the big mistake they have done. Boys, Stop thinking that you can go far with your fans and votings. It was clearly shown even if u never dance there are people to vote for u guys. Yesterday was a let down. We really hope you guys tone down and do the best of the best for semi. If we see the same old killabeez we have no words for you guys anymore... The reputation will go down slowly. Pls come back with the biggest bang.. APSARA ASIA you totally burned the stage.

Hi,
After viewing the Dhool 2008 3rd QF, I would like to comment on the voting system which resulted in the controversial results for the qualifying teams. I have understood that the panel of judges has 30% contribution to the results and the public, through sms voting for their preferred team has an amazing 70% contribution. I strongly believe that the sms voting has played a major role on 17 Aug's results.

If the public has the power to judge which teams qualify or win, what do our much experienced judges have to say then? It's proven that even their decisons can be overturned to allow a less quality team to qualify compared to much talented groups who deserve it. If this is allowed, how do we really see much of our home grown talents being exposed or given the opportunity to prove and exibit their efforts.

If a team has sufficient talent to prove their capacity but not much friends, family or fanfare to supply the support through sms votings, it is evitable that they don't stand a chance to win to even proceed to a higher level of competition. Therefore, this will always allow groups who have already participated or publicily famous to rather round off the top spots due to their infamous regonition.

If the voting system's were to reverse, where the panel of judges has 70% contribution, I including many others would graciously feel that talent and efforts would surpass uncrediantial fame and popularity. It is sadly left now to decide if talent bows down to substandial stardom or reign superior to prove its worth.

Together, with the panel of judges, I am equally disappointed as well!

I believe the fans have brought in sometime second stringers Killabeez to the semis jus for the passion to seem them perform. Killabeez are capable of putting up much a greater performance as last seen dance arena. That being said Apsaras were better on the night, they deserve the chance to get back head to head with the top. To square things off the sms voting should be discontinued in the semis only to be brought back on a lower weightage in the finals probably.

Professionally the judges verdict was correct but hav done injustice to the public who voted for their fave group by their remarks.

Many a times dhool winners weren't always the crowd fave probably this time round we'll see a group that the public wants to win also putup a deserving performance.

Anyways the show is not over yet so let the groups be motivated to perform to their best.

hi all... all the teams did well in last weeks rounds. as for the controversial results, well, just get vijayadran out of there and everything will be back to normal... cause i sense that the main reason contributing to the controversy of results might be due the publics rebuttal to tht fella's comments stating apsara asia is the kind of team he was looking at. btw apsara's constume was awesome. not so much for their dancing though it was better coordinated in every sense when compared to killabeez..

the judges too need to chill it causes its a dance competetion for the youth and lets all have some funand support them shall we...

lavanya.. if youre reading this which i hope you are... kindly shut ur crap bout "tharmanna" group... i dont beleive u were born dancing your way out of KK hospital or whichever hospital you were from...

sree devi... i'm not your fan but i think by far you've been giving the most sensible critcism which were both constructive and contributive to the teams...

vijayadran... u should be the reason why the came up with the show "cadefare"..

hosts.. you guys rock it!!! i tune in just for the hosts... REALLY...

Hey guys.. you know what.. Vijayandran rocks.. and i have been thinking this way, since i have seen him on TV, for the past 30 years. He has been the only guy, who has kept his physique and dressing sense, so well maintained, even after all these years. When we have sree devy and lavanya to comment on the dancing styles and technicalities, vijayandran is judging on their presentation, which i think he is qualified to do so when it comes to the singapore TV scene. So pls give him a break... if you all secretly want sensation, and controversy in your hearts, but just can't accept vijayandran, then you all should just fly kite.

so pls tink b4 u say ... i m nt against in any way .. so lets put this behind .. there's a wild card grp for those who neva get thru n a semi final to decide for the qualifed grps.. so lets hope for the best .. instaed of tokin abt wats alreadi happened n hurtin the grps.. tink ahead ppl ..!

TO annonymous August 19, 2008 11:26 AM,

It was very rude of your comments to post it up here. I hope you think before you say such stuff. Judges are the most qualified personalities to judge a show. As a audience i think you just sit back and relax. If not why don't you write a letter to the production and ask them to pick you as a judge. ALSO PLEASE for chris sake! DO not ever compare Apsara Asia performance with Killabeez. Not only the judges, hundreds of us know where Killabeez stood on that day among the rest. I hope you know the meaning of "Thaaramaana". When Lavanya said that do you know how many people clapped in that auditiorum? SO i just hope killabeez will do their ultimum best. If not bye bye beez...

"Judges are the most qualified personalities to judge a show."

duh!!!

but i believe there are better judges out there to judge dancers as compared to vijaydran... i dont remember him dancing anything more than juz swaying side to side or maybe the occassional twists here and there.. if u wanna him to judge based on the 80's mindset then mayb he's best u are lookin for or even that's why apsara asia impressed him so much, if youre talkin bout style and dress sense...

beez have no chance against apsara but at least they have more indians in it then apsara... ooopz... nothin racist here but juz some facts... back to topic..

im not a qualified judge in anyway but from a viewer point.. i think apsara asia did well GIVEN THE DAMNED FACT THAT THEYRE TRAINED FREAKIN DANCERS... more trained than beez as we all know it.. so yeah they ought to dance to impress...

bout clappin for lavanya.. mayb the clappers were for the losing groups?? erm... mayb u shud think man.. supporters for 3groups of losing team... of coz loud la makkalz....

aiyo please la you guys. like billabilla_sarajumbo said, lavanya and sreedevy are focussing on techniques and dance styles while vijayandran is focussing more on presentation. so if you think about it, he is giving remarks which the layman will also be thinking about since he is not a trained dancer. so why can't you guys taking it as he's speaking for the public? he has been an entertainer for more than 30 years and he has more experience than anyone else to judge for how dancers should present themselves for television. after all, this is a television dance competition and not a CC competition.

there's no point blaming the judges when they are being true to the competition. which is to choose the best indian dance team in singapore. trained or not, i'm sure there's a reason why they were selected out of the rest. who else can they have used? leaders of prominent dance groups? everyone's connected! if you use a leader from a prominent dance group there will definitely be favouritism. so naturally it must have been because they had to choose performers/ entertainers who have no connections with any of the dance groups!

apsara asia really raised the standards for dhool and i think it's because of teams like them and tridiac that other newer teams will take the competition seriously and raise their own standards and also be motivated to do better. look at aerocratz! although most of them are from theestainers they did such an amazing item that no one would have expected! why? probably because the competition is so much tougher than it used to be!

dhool 03 was only for academic institutions. dhool 07 was the first television dance competition that was held for both schools and dance groups that took part in stage competitions. maybe dhool 08 is not for newcomers but more for good dance groups (popular or not, tv dancers or not) to battle it out and see who's the best? maybe that's why the newer dance groups didn't get in because they were not up to standard?

think about it people.

It was shocking to see the judges getting emotional over the decisions. The reason for them to be called upon to be judges is the special recognition given to them knowing that they can handle the job well and not being biased, not getting emotional and keeping their head straight and cool. If they are going to behave in such a way, it is very disheatening to know that they are not doing a good job. If the judges can pass critics about the dancing groups,I'm sure the public who are watching the judges, have the right to pass critics about them. Then, why appear on National TV? You get both bad and good remarks. I'm sad to say but one of the judges who has contributed so much for the Indian society in terms of entertainment proclaimed that he has 30 years of experience in dancing. Its like telling someone that he has been serving the army for 30 years but being a "Cook" It does not matter how many years you have contributed but it matters how much of quality or improvement you have made over the years. Even then, hats off to you... Sir!!! for the contribution you have made for the local entertainment..

It was clear that he was not being neutral about the 3 QF when he mentioned that the Killabeez attire was too colourful or inappropriate but when Apsara Asia did the 80s number. I was telling in my heart he is going to do something extraordinary when he stood up and said this what he wanted. This showed that emotions ruled his head and shows his lack of experience in judging. The other judge, I think there is still room for improvement.

Hats off to Ms Sridevi for being composed and bringing out the finer points in dancing. The other 2 judges, please control your emotions and be level headed when it comes to judging because you set an impression to the public and to the dancing groups.

I agree with most of the bloggers that the decision by the judges were correct. Firstly why is there sms voting in the quarter finals. SMS voting should only start in semis as the competitors are tough and whoever goes out their head will be held up.

Secondly there is no proof to show the sms voting and thus its speculated as inside job.

Why need judges to give marks if the viewers are voting for thier favourite group rather than quality group.

Is it fair to be voted off because of sms voting or not performing a quality dance.

My heart goes out to APSARA ASIA as they are bunch of technical dancers and it is difficult to get a group like that. S'poreans must understand if they want a group to represent SINGAPORE it must be based on Techniques and not popularity.

Aerocratz did an amazing dance and it proved that they are doing somthing different and it has captured the hearts of the nation but technically APSARA did the best and i thought this 2 groups will qualify.

Killerbeez was not even half as good as either one of the dance groups. Like wat Vijandran mentioned they could have done better. This was thier worst perfomance.

For the judges, it is ok to show their emotions as they have picked the best team to qualify but due to the sms voting it upset them. So
Pls vote for the quality group which deserve the cash prize.

You wanna tok so much about MR L VIJAYANDRAN than why not you become the judge.
When you sit there than you will how to performe as a jugde.
Only a less educated and a barbarian like you guys will come up with all this comments.
First of all,you may not know whats the meaning of dressing sense. You must be the type who have never been in the media industry. He has been there for 30 over years and he knows what dressing is and how it will be seen by viewers.
I do not think he needs some uneducated dogs like you to teach him dressing sense. When it comes to tv he knows what to wear.Experince speaks much more compared to some low class peoples comments.
He has been put there to judge cause of his 30 yrs experience working with dancers. He knows how they came up with concepts, how they work as a team and how are their dress code are suppose to be like.
SO LET STRAY DOG BARKS AS LONG AS THEY WANT.CAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY MR L.VIJAYANDRAN IS AN ARTIST WITH EXPERRIENCE NOT LIKE A YOU WHO GOT NOTHING TO SHOW ON TV.

Well on the whole, jus cut the crap of insulting him.Why not also find out what the other 2 ladies are up to???They are literally copyin each other. And sri devi is a lady who knows how to save her name. She might be b****ing and giving low marks backstage. So pls la guys.

WOW! For the past 3 weeks... I've seen about 15 dance groups. But only 3 groups attracted me. KALI DANCERS, APSARA ASIA and AEROCRATE…

Not to say no, YES! Kali Dancers n Agni Reloaded were similar but Kali Dancers were way much better then Agni Reloaded. Wow, they were brilliant in their Expressions. I’ve always tot that Kali Dancers Lead Girl is the only person who can give perfect Expression but they’ve proved me wrong, 1 of the male dancer, I guess the groups lead girl’s younger brother, WOW! His way of dancing and his expressions were DAMN GOOD... Both Brother n Sister did Extremely WELL for the international flavor, they both are the star of the group, in fact for Dhool 2008... Just a small comment: The leader must loose some weight n especially the dark fat guy possible get him out of the group cos he is the SPOIL POT. Other then tat Kali ROXzzzz….
Giv Me a "K" Giv me a "A" Giv me a "L" Giv me an "I"...

Now lets move on to Apsara Asia n Aerocrate.
Apsara Asia were good but they should have put in more effort on the dance, they looked more like a guest performer and they looked OVER CONFIDENT! But They were good in their dance. I tot they would do well for they international flavor but they didn’t.. Aerocrate’s were real different from everybody. Hats of to them for not being shy to do such a concept... But they too were Not Good in the international flavor. So in this case Kali Dancers were GREAT...

All the best,
Kali
Apsara
&
Aerocrate

Yours truly,
Sheena..

With all due respect to Mr L.Vijayandran, singer, performer, appreciate his dedication as a senior artiste to take the hot seat. An appropriate show for him to judge would be Vasantham Star rather than Dhool. More n more variety shows are trying to squeeze an american-idol-simon-cowell-ala judge to spice things up for reverting viewer-ship. Mr.L.V is just creating the hype to perfection being such a controversial judge. Have seen his performance in my younger days n i must comment his a bold artiste. The youngsters nowadays may not be able to appreciate his talent but i believe his still able to put-up such a performance in this age n time. That being said, judging the Finals of Dhool at its hype now is an humongous task with acclaimed groups participating to be the top.We need a top hat judge with a no-nonsense approach, no personal biasness with the rite credentials.Mr.L.Vijayandran being a charismatic soul and also some may not know that he has encouraged fallen groups to buckle up backstage, should too graciously give way to an appropriate special guest judge in the finals. That would do justice to the show proper and a fitting touch would be a L.Vijayandran performance with a group that exited Dhool in the Semis for some reason to show the support of senior artistes and encouragement for the now generation to pursue towards a dancer's passion. Most of the poll(inclusive of general public, past & present artistes) are not against Mr.L.V performing or his past acclaims but raise eyebrows when it comes to delivering the comments & verdict. Hot seat or not one has to wonder whether its the right seat for the right person at that particular point of time to start with. Dance Groups keep it going guys n gals..appreciate your boldness n efforts to rock the stage week in week out. If winners are better than losers, losers are better than by-standers! Cheerz

Nicely said about Mr.LV.He has a job to be done and he is doing it well.
I hope ppl out there would open up their ears and eyes to see whats happening between the two lady judges.
SriDevi AND Lavna Ramesh are merly just copying each others comments. They are jus saying good things at first and than letting the teams down. They are trying to potray themselves as the good girls at first and than being nasty later.
I heard that Mr LV encourages groups backstage and talks to them as friends but this two ladies are literally doing nothing. They jus wanna get a clean name and leave the show.I see no encouragement sense in these two lady judges.
I support Mr.LV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was veri disappointed with Killabeez performance...
Hey but who said killabeez isn't thaaramaana grp to go in...??
Lavanya Ramesh pls control your mouth..!!
Well if im not wrong, the judges said that killabeez was the kinda grp they were expecting in the auditions rite... Now they are saying killabeez is not the thaaramaana grp...!! Haha. Its very funny la.
But as most of u guys said said Apsara Asia's danz was like a guest performance. And the whole dance was exactly copied from the movie. Is that called originality? Haha. Funny la. I remember the judges saying they want to see new dance styles but not copyin... In my opinion Killabeez deserve to go in. I have seen Killabeez performe more than those judges n i say killabeez have the quality to go in even though is was their worst performance. Give them a chance will ya. Killabeez... If you guys are viewin this blog pls do a favour 4 all your fans. Do them proud by givin your best performnce on the semis. Give all those ppl who said you guys dont deserve to win a nose cut... Thats all im gonna ask u guys... All the best 4 ur semis n finals...

was preety dissapointed with the episode telecasted on 140809.
it was the semi finals of a dance competition named dhool08.
it follws partially the american idol voting system where the judges give their views a nd 70% of the score and the rest is decided by 30% sms votings by the audience/public.
the clear winners were the aerocratz, a talented , and artistic group., outshining from the rest.
and as expected the aerocratz were into the finals with two other deserving groups.
however , the judges keep on rooting for asparas asia , a group which the public are not favour of as the sms votings are the lowest for them throughout the competition.
why is that so?
1. singapore indians are not foolish
2. this particular group is a professional group which is very familiar to the media, thus it is unfair for newcomers( btw vasantham had always mentioned that it will do its best to welome newcomers)
3.the group consists of only 1 indian.( i am not being a racist here)we will not fall for those so called seducive dance steps that your female dancers are trying to put up.
but ppl pls respect , this is an indian show. you may try your luck at the competition organised at mediacorp5, if you think you are so good.

these are the 3 main reasons, so judges pls try to understand...
esp sridevi, your job is to give a score and not plead the producers for a reconsideration of entering asparas asia back into the competition, despite the fact the public have already decided that THEY DO NOT WANT ASPARAS ASIA!!!!
respect the viewers!!!!

I am really dissapointed with Sri Devi. How can she appeal to the producers on whom should go to the final??? Remember that is a competition not pick and choose. I really dont like the way Apsara Asia danced. They are not as professional as aerocratz, Tridiac and Killabeez. I dont find their dance superb at all. What happen to Sri Devi??? Favourisome??? No way Apsara whould go to the finals!!!!!

if groups like Ver 2.8 $ Agni Reloaded can enter the finals, y not Aspara Asia??Chakraz isn't any better; costumes are flamboyant but they repeat the dance steps.only diffrence the make each week is on the approach they take on the songs.
anyway, is this a dance show for groups with talent or popularity?
judges AND sms voting = talent vs popularity.
its abt time producers decide if they want panel of judges or viewers judgement.
one show starts having sms voting and every copycat follows!!be more sensible.

Hello whoever out there,

You are telling me that ver2.8 dancers did not perform well??? They performed much much more better than Apsaras. Even I can dance better than Apsaras. They follow the same beat throughout. Just look at aerocratz, thet are amazing!!!

Anyway, back to you Sri devi....Remember that this is a competition not a court to appeal. As for me, Apsaras dont deserve to enter finals......!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey people, it's ok relax... The choice is not in our hands...It's meant to be like this so it's like this, we can't change it, can we... Just chill out people... We can't go back to the past to change everything unless we have such powers like hiro nakamura... You can give your comment but there's no point crying over a spilt milk... It's also quite saddening for me to see groups which are not supposed to be qualified are being qualified... As what i said previously nothing is in our hand... What was to happen had just happened... All you guys have one and only thing to do... And that is to just chill out... Finals is coming... If you do not have the group you want to have; just support the groups which you thing that they really did extremely perfect and they really deserve to win, just vote for those groups... It's worth spending your sms money for a quality group... So all people down there all i want to tell is that, just chill out, sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves by watching the show but please don't get angry again... See ya... PEACE OUT...

it is really unfair for Apsasra asia. They really deserve to get to the finals...the producers should give them a chance..agni did not do well but they deserve to go finals thru votnig..tat is unfair oso wad..VOTE 4 A "THARAMANA" GRP NOT UR FAVOURITE GRP..it is a dance competition..not a family or friends show..REally disappointing
